DESCRIPTION:Symposium Science and Space\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nOn 21 and 22 October 
 2026\, the first edition of the Science and Space Symposium&nbsp\;will tak
 e place at\nGrande Auditório João Lobo Antunes (Edifício Egas Moniz\, L
 isbon)\, as a collaboration between the\nGIMM Foundation (Gulbenkian Insti
 tute for Molecular Medicine) and GIMM-CARE\, the Faculdade de Medicina da 
 Universidade de Lisboa (FMUL)\, the European Space Agency (ESA)\, and the 
 Portuguese Space Agency (PTSpace).\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nOver the course of two da
 ys\, this symposium will foster discussion on emerging research areas and 
 perspectives for scientific and translational development in the space con
 text\, with a particular focus on topics such as ageing\, microbiome\, rad
 iation\, and cardiovascular.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThe programme includes scientif
 ic sessions\, keynote lectures\, poster presentations\, and a public round
  table\, with the aim of\nbringing together researchers\, clinicians\, and
  stakeholders&nbsp\;from the space sector. The public session is intended 
 to raise awareness in society about the importance of space research and i
 ts close connection to the prospects and challenges of space exploration.\
 n\n&nbsp\;\n\nThis symposium will also feature the participation of severa
 l international speakers\, as well as\nspecialists and representatives fro
 m the organizing institutions.
