Comparative Adipose Single-Nucleus Transcriptomics and Lipidomics of Human and Mouse Sepsis: Mapping Sepsis Bioenergetics
SEPSIS-ATLAS aims to create the first comprehensive map of gene activity at the single-cell level (snRNA-seq) in adipose tissue from patients with septic shock in the ICU. By comparing these human data with findings from mouse models—where blocking fat cell lipolysis increases sepsis mortality — we hope to better understand how fat tissue responds during severe infection. This approach will provide a detailed view of the different cell types and molecular programs in adipose tissue that help protect the body during sepsis.
